Gloria Marion Palmer
December 7, 1937 - February 22, 1999, 62 years of life

In mid January 1998, our mother thought she had the flu. She was 100 pounds overweight due to sever Rheumatoid Arthritis. She had had no surgery, no prior history of diabetes. After less than 24 hours we rushed her to Sheridan Community Hospital in Michigan. A Physician there asked us how long she had been a diabetic. Her sugar was over 600. During a phone conversation with his wife he explained Mother's symptom's. His wife had recently read a paper, or attended a seminar on NF. She convinced her husband of the dire possibility of NF. He had her transferred to a Grand Rapids Michigan hospital now know as Spectrum Health. There they went about saving her life and Defeating the Flesh Eating Disease which had eaten 86 Lb. of flesh from her inner thigh and abdomen in less than 48 hours.

Mother passed away with a small smile on her face at Sheridan Community Hospital in Michigan of Congestive Heart Failure. She had been home for little over 6 months. A little more than a year after NF tried to claim her life. Her's is a story of survival, and also of defeat. A story of Physician's and Nurses's whom I haven't permission to name. For all they did to save our Mother. They acted expediently and professionally and it is our hope that everything they learned from Mother's case will save the lives of many more people who may contract this deadly disease. Bless You All. If I can help...if I can add information...feel free to email.
